There are many wonderful opportunities for all!

APH Monarch Student Pilot Opportunity

The Monarch is set to revolutionize education and create an equitable learning environment for students who are blind or low vision. As APH seeks to create a world where everyone is welcome, it is introducing the Monarch Student Pilot Project, granting select students across the U.S. and its territories access to the Monarch. This initiative will enable observation of the educational impacts on student outcomes.

To be eligible for the Monarch Student Pilot Project, students must meet the requirements listed below and be nominated by a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or other vision professional. Parents of home-schooled students are also welcome to submit a nomination. Requirements include:

  • Entering the 6th-11th grade in the Fall of 2024
  • Ability to read and write braille
  • Experience using a refreshable braille display
  • Email address, for book distribution
  • Has a qualified teacher of the visually impaired (TVI), vision professional, or parent/guardian who agrees to provide regular updates on usage and impact—must complete up to one survey per month for a minimum of 18 months

The deadline to submit a nomination is July 12, 2024. Spots are limited, so nominate your students today with the Monarch Student Pilot Project Nomination Form! If your student is selected, you will be contacted via email with additional information by the end of July. For any questions regarding the program, please email monarchsupport@aph.org.
